Ilizarov or Ring fixator is attached to the leg by manually adjusting the screws or components in the fixator. The wires are fixed to the frame passing through the thigh bone and is adjusted depending on the deformity of the leg.
Once the fixator is firmly in place, the limb is stabilized with the frame and is removed once the alignment of limbs are achieved.
